Antenna America Kannai

This is where Antenna America started, in 2013, as the showroom for Nagano Trading, an American craft beer importer. It still works like one: fifth floor of a multi-tenant building a street off Yoshidamachi's main road, with a wall of fridges packed with US cans and bottles. You take a can from the fridge, pay at the register and drink it right there, and there's no cover charge.

The eight taps rotate through IPAs and hazies, with the odd cider or peanut-butter milk stout, and pours come as a 10oz (¥1,045–1,155), a pint (¥1,485–1,650) or a pitcher, so you can taste around before committing to a pint. Food is American bar food: wings, nachos, burgers. There's a terrace, and the sixth floor, with a big-screen TV, can be booked for private parties.

It opens at 11 on weekends, which makes it a sensible lunch-with-a-beer stop between Noge and Bashamichi. Everything in the fridge can also be taken away, and staff speak English.
