On the BEER MICHI road →

Down the escalator from the World Trade Center's South Tower, two minutes from the JR south exit, DevilCraft Hamamatsucho has been pouring since August 2013, the company's second shop. Around 20 taps (the shop page says 18), nearly all of them DevilCraft's own beer from its Shinagawa brewery, plus a guest or two and a cider. Most beers come as a 260ml half from ¥800 or a 473ml US pint from ¥1,150; the strongest are poured in 200ml and 300ml glasses instead. The founders are American and the staff speak English.

The food is Chicago deep-dish pizza, a thick quiche-like slab with the cheese underneath and the sauce on top. The Devil Works S (pepperoni, salami, house sausage and a pile of vegetables) is ¥2,390 and feeds one or two; four buffalo wings are ¥1,250. Detroit-style square pizza is the newer addition, large only and made in limited numbers, so the shop suggests reserving one.

Only tables can be booked. The 14-seat counter and the standing area are walk-in only, so a solo drinker can just turn up. Saturdays and Sundays open at noon, and the whole room is non-smoking.
