On the BEER MICHI road →

Three American beer lovers opened this in July 2011, and since 2015 the beer has come from their own brewery in Shinagawa: fourteen taps at Kanda, nearly all house beer with the odd US guest and a cider, half pours (260ml) from ¥800 and US pints (473ml) from ¥1,150. The shop takes a whole five-storey building on a corner of Nichigin-dori, two minutes from Kanda's south exit, with twelve counter seats on the ground floor and tables on the two floors above. The counter is where you want to be, and it is walk-in only.

The pizza is Chicago deep-dish done properly: cheese on the bottom, marinara on top. Devil Works (pepperoni, Milano salami, house sausage, a pile of vegetables) is the most popular. Small is ¥2,390 and feeds one or two; large is ¥4,780 and feeds two to four. It bakes to order and can take up to an hour when busy, so order it with your first beer, not your third. Buffalo wings and beef chili fries cover the wait.

The menu is bilingual and the staff speak English. One drink per person is the house rule, with a two-hour limit when it's full, and only tables can be booked. Open seven days, from three in the afternoon at weekends.
